Frequently Asked Questions
1. What sort of a church are you?
Oasis Church has been in Essex Road since 1924. We are an accredited member of Churches in Communities, and also a part of the Ground Level Network and the Evangelical Alliance.
We are bible centred, and believe that we should be able to make the eternal truths contained in the bible accessibile to everyone who meets with us. We take the teaching of the Bible seriously, and work hard to communicate not just knowledge, but the application of knowledge to our daily lives, in order that everyone who is a part of the church is actively relfecting Christ more each week.
2. What style of church are you?
We are an informal, lively church. Our music is contemporay, and our teaching is application based. We are a community of people who are passionate about Father God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and want other people to have a real and tabgible experience of God!
3. Do you welcome children?
Yes, absolutely. We provide activities for the children during the service. We want the children to be a part of our church family, and at the moment, we do not take them out of the service to a seperate room.
4. We may be running late ... it that okay?
Of course. You can sneak in at the back at anytime.
5. What sort of teaching do you provide?
All of our teaching is Life Application based. This is solid teaching on how to live life in the real world, taken from scriptural principles. It is accessible to everyone (you don't need to be a theologian), but please do bring a bible with you if you have one.
6. Will I be asked to do anything embarassing because I'm visiting?
Whilst we want to make you feel welcome , we won't individually identify you if you come and visit us. If you'd like to just sit and quietly observe, that's fine. Don't feel under any pressure to get involved in anything that is happening. All we ask is that you fill out a first impressions card to help us get better at welcoming guests!
7. Can I take Communion at Oasis Church?
If you know and love Jesus Christ, then yes, you may share in communion. If you do not yet know Jesus, then it may not be appropriate to do so. Please speak whoever is leading the meeting if you are not sure. There is no age limit, so children are also welcome to participate.
