Frequently Asked Questions about Oasis Church

1. What sort of a church are you?

Oasis Church has been in Essex Road for almost 60 years. We are an independent Christian church. We are bible centred, and believe that we should be able to make the eternal truths contained in the bible accessibile to everyone who meets with us.

Independent means that we are not governed by any other organisation. The leadership team have total responsibility for how the church operates. This does not mean we are on our own, though. We have excellent relationships with other Pastors in Chadwell Heath and beyond.

We are members of the Evangelical Alliance, are part of Ground Level, and have links to Livability (formerly the Shaftesbury Society).

2. What style of church are you?

We are a very laid back church. Often there is plenty of humour during the service. Having said that, we are also a church that is passionate about Father God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

3. Do you welcome children at your services?

Yes, absolutely. We provide activities for the children during the service. We want the children to be a part of our church family, and at the moment, we do not take them out of the service to a seperate room.

4. We may be running late ... it that okay?

Of course. You can sneak in at the back at anytime. If you come in the front doors and turn left, there is a second entrance to the main hall.

5. What sort of teaching do you provide on Sundays?

Almost all of our teaching on Sunday mornings is Life Application based. This is solid teaching on how to live life in the real world, taken from scriptural principles. It is accessible to everyone (you don't need to be a theologian), but do bring a bible if you have one.

6. Will I be asked to do anything embarassing because I'm visiting?

Whilst we want to make you feel welcome , we won't individually identify you if you come and visit us. If you'd like to just sit and quietly observe, that's fine. Don't feel under any pressure to get involved in anything that is happening. All we ask is that you fill out a first impressions card to help us get better at welcoming guests!
